Frequently Asked Questions

The first session is a 50-minute appointment focused on getting to know you and understanding what has brought you to therapy. We will begin by reviewing the informed consent process, including confidentiality, practice policies, and any questions you may have about therapy.

The session will also involve gathering intake information about your current concerns, as well as exploring relevant personal, emotional, and mental health history to develop a clearer understanding of your experiences and goals for therapy.

The phone consultation is a brief 10-minute call where we'll discuss what you're looking for in therapy. We'll review the therapeutic approach, answer any questions you may have, and explore whether it feels like a good therapeutic fit.

You will not be asked to share detailed personal information - the call is simply an opportunity to connect and discuss your goals for therapy.

Virtual sessions are offered for clients throughout Alberta. Virtual sessions are available through the secure Jane portal and require a device equipped with a camera. Clients are required to attend sessions from a safe, private, and confidential space (for example, sessions cannot be attended while driving or in public spaces).

Phone sessions are not offered.

Session fees are set in accordance with the recommended fee schedule established by the Psychologists' Association of Alberta (PAA). Currently, the session fees are:

  • 50-minute session: $235
  • 80-minute session: $352.50

Yes. Therapy is confidential, with some legal and ethical exceptions related to safety and mandatory reporting requirements. These will be discussed clearly during the informed consent process.

The length of therapy varies depending on your therapeutic goals, the concerns being addressed, and a variety of other individual factors. Because each person’s experience is unique, it is not possible to determine a specific timeline in advance. Throughout the process, we will regularly re-evaluate your progress and the frequency of sessions to ensure that therapy continues to meet your needs and support your goals effectively.

Therapy services are currently offered to individuals who are 18 years of age and older.

We recognize that schedules can change and unforeseen situations may arise. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we ask that you provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice.

Missed appointments or appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full session fee. This policy helps us provide timely care to all clients and allows us to offer appointment times to others who may be waiting for our services.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide notice as soon as possible by phone or email.

Fees are due at the start of each appointment.

We accept payment by e-transfer, credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, as well as Visa Debit and Debit Mastercard), and direct billing through select insurance providers when applicable. Electronic receipts are provided following each session for insurance claims or tax purposes.
