Areas of Focus & Therapeutic Approaches
While I support clients through a wide range of concerns, much of my practice focuses on trauma therapy and helping individuals heal from difficult life experiences that continue to impact their present-day lives. Trauma can affect self-worth, emotional regulation, relationships, attachment patterns, and a person's sense of safety, trust, and connection. Together, we work to understand these experiences with compassion and curiosity while creating space for healing, self-understanding, and meaningful growth.
My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique needs and goals. When appropriate, I integrate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help process and resolve difficult experiences so they feel less emotionally overwhelming and no longer hold the same weight in your daily life.
In my work with couples, I draw from the Gottman Method to support healthier communication, deeper emotional understanding, and stronger relationship connection. Couples therapy can help partners navigate conflict, rebuild trust, strengthen emotional intimacy, and better understand recurring relationship patterns that may be contributing to distress or disconnection. Together, we work toward creating a more secure, meaningful, and fulfilling partnership.
EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences, distressing life events, anxiety, PTSD, and other emotional challenges. EMDR therapy works by using guided bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, to help the brain reprocess memories that may be contributing to current symptoms, emotional distress, and negative beliefs about oneself.
EMDR therapy is widely recognized as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD, but it can also help individuals who feel stuck in patterns related to anxiety, self-esteem difficulties, relationship challenges, grief, stress, and other adverse life experiences. By helping the brain process unresolved experiences, EMDR can reduce emotional distress and support lasting healing, resilience, and emotional well-being.
EMDR therapy can be effective for a wide range of concerns, including:
- Trauma and PTSD
- Anxiety and panic attacks
- Childhood trauma and attachment wounds
- Grief and loss
- Low self-esteem and negative self-beliefs
- Relationship and attachment difficulties
- Stress, burnout, and emotional overwhelm
- Phobias and fears
- Medical trauma and adjustment to chronic illness
- Performance anxiety
- Difficult life transitions
- Adverse childhood experiences
- Distressing or overwhelming life events
Supportive Counselling
Supportive counselling is grounded in an integrative approach that draws from evidence-based therapeutic modalities to meet your unique needs and goals. Depending on your concerns and preferences, therapy may incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Humanistic Therapy. These approaches can help you develop greater self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, navigate difficult emotions, challenge unhelpful patterns, and build a more meaningful and values-aligned life.
Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, therapy is tailored to your individual experiences and circumstances. By integrating different therapeutic approaches within a supportive and collaborative environment, supportive counselling can help you better understand yourself, navigate life's challenges, and foster lasting emotional well-being and personal growth.
